Edison Hill Search are retained by our client, a global creative digital agency based in London.
You will be working closely with the CEO and alongside your peers from creative, CX, design, data, project management, operations and sales as a member of the executive team.
As the new CTO you’d be inheriting a stable engineering team of circa 50 strong tech staff, across multiple locations and disciplines, managed via three direct reports. This technical delivery machine has been crafted and nurtured over time to become the engine room behind the success and reputation my client has built, ensuring the continual winning of lucrative and ground-breaking assignments from household names across the globe.
Although my client is a real “heavyweight” in the creative digital sector, they are proud of the culture of creativity and the “start-up” mentality that runs through the business.
So, what needs to be done? For starters to ensure the technical team carries on in a stable and effective manner delivering projects to clients on time and budget. However, the business is at a crossroads in terms of the direction to take for future technical work, and you will be central to influencing this new chapter in their story.
Topics for consideration include; Should they continue on the same path, strengthening what they currently do; Should they develop deeper relationships with outside software vendors; Should they up the ante on areas like voice recognition, dynamic new media formats, and eCommerce; Should AI and Bots become part of their staple offering to clients?
A “typical” day for the CTO would include liaising directly with clients to discuss ongoing projects, supporting new business by authoring responses to technical questions in RFI/RFPs , team leadership, nurturing and mentoring duties, imparting your views to the executive team around strategic direction, and if there’s any time left you could also roll up your sleeves and cut some code (if you so desire).
