Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the hotels market was one of the most-highly competitive markets on a global level, with market leaders competing on various aspects to gain an edge over their competitors. Now the market is desperate for innovation to support its recovery from the crisis.

Smaller and independent hotels have been at a disadvantage as they can’t afford to develop the technology that would allow them to compete with the luxury and chain markets.

The Solution

Now things are about to change; these hotels can compete with the big chains with the introduction of an innovative new Hospitality Tech Startup, Shackle.

Smaller Hotels can now introduce new revenue streams, staffing optimisations and guest experiences that are backed by machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) tools that focus on the guests.

The Appointment – Hands on CTO/Technical Co-Founder

This appointment will be Shackles first technology go-to expert and play an integral role in setting Shackle’s strategic direction, development and future growth. You will oversee and drive the overall technology development and technology utilisation plan and manage all information technology resources of the company.

Ideally you should be a seasoned vet who has domain experience in the hospitality tech industry, possibly with a background in hospitality tech or Property Management Systems.

As this appointment will initially entail hands on coding, you will also need to be a technologist who enjoys working on complex issues and has your finger on the pulse of cutting edge tech, allowing Shackle to consistently stay ahead of the competition.

Individual characteristics:

Capable of getting their hands dirty. This is not just a strategic or managerial role, coding ability is a must.

A real passion for their job, they take pride in their work and want to execute to the best of their abilities each time.

Comfortable talking to hotel managers/owners and their tech teams when explaining the onboarding process.

They should believe in their talents while being capable of taking direction, listening intently to someone (likely to be younger than them) and taking that advice on board.

Approachable & someone who gives respect both to their peers but more importantly, new starters.

Commitment, when the going gets tough, you won’t call it a day.

A misfit, a bit troublesome, not “normal” are all perfect and these qualities are admired by the leadership team, but they must be a team player, regardless of their talent
