Software Tester (Remote Working) - Remote working

Ref: 208 Date Posted: Tuesday 23 Feb 2021

My clients are multi-channel e-commerce software provider. Our mission is to help growing SMB e-commerce retailers become more successful. We help them sell more, across more channels, so they save time and make more profit.

Working remotely, even after COVID, the role of Software Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the quality of development exceeds clients (retailers) expectations and achieves strategic objectives. It’s your job to work as hard as you can to ensure any bugs or issues are removed from the product before it is released. Every issue customers experience detracts from the value they derive from using the product and the return on investment they achieve. The software must be quick to set-up, easy-to-use, secure and reliable by design.
Clients (retailers) describe their support and on-boarding service as “game-changing” and their team as always “going the extra mile”. They also value their wider experience of e-commerce, marketplaces and accounting software.

Their aim is for their clients (retailers) to become raving fans and advocates, willing to share their success stories with others. You will interact with customers in order to understand their requirements or provide support in solving their problems and so you must be able to maintain high levels of customer service.

Your key responsibilities are to:

1. Work with the Development and Operations teams to review specifications and define the quality lifecycle, test strategies and plans
2. Create test cases based upon user stories or functional design
3. Undertake various manual and automated testing, including performance testing, functional testing, customer scenario testing, scalability testing, usability testing, white box texting, international testing and security testing
4. Present logs, reports and findings to the Development and Operations teams, including both technical and non-technical colleagues, and help troubleshoot issues
5. Achieve departmental, project and client deadlines and quality standards
6. Build an agile-friendly test automation framework and implement agreed test automation tools
7. Participate in the release management process to ensure releases move through build and test environments into production and customers are properly supported and informed.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
My clients are a small team with a real start-up culture. You must have a “sleeves rolled-up”, can-do attitude and a hard work ethic. You must be a team player, prepared to work with the team to do whatever it takes to achieve goals. This may mean that you are occasionally asked to do things outside of your core role.
You must possess:
* Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with all stakeholders
* Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work under pressure and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
* Self-drive and tenacity
* Ability to work in a team and individually
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to achieve tight deadlines

Experience of Angular and .Net and software test design in an agile environment is important, preferably gained in an e-commerce business. Knowledge of integrating with eCommerce market places (e.g Amazon, ebay, Etsy, etc) and accounting software (particularly Xero) would also be an advantage. We expect you to have experience of various test automation tools and to be able to recommend and implement a test automation strategy. Experience of working with remote teams, including those in other territories, is imperative. You must be tactful and diplomatic, maintaining good working relationships with customers and colleagues at all times.
