Test Automation Engineer - London

You could be joining an exciting, fast growing and established UK start-up that is revolutionising the global IoT market through its radical new approach to securing the edge of large scale IoT networks.

They now require an Agile Driven Test Automation Engineer with a passion for automation to join their talented in-house team.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Design and implement test automation solutions for component integration and system integration testing, mainly for Linux, but also on Windows machines.
  • Architect and write code to improve the quality of the automation toolchain.
  • Consult the Director of QA, develop guidelines and specifications for designing / implementing test automation solutions.
  • Report of key performance metrics to assess impact/value.
  • Work with engineering, product and marketing to understand customer requirements and update the roadmap for test solution, to reflect priorities.
  • Mentor engineers to effectively use test frameworks, and in writing test cases for Rest-API and low-level implementations.
  • Collaborate with local and remote teams to share knowledge across the organisation.
  • Participate in stand-ups.
  • Apply good engineering practices and agile methodologies in all development activities.
  • Create test plans, defects, documentation, reports, and any other test artefacts required by the QA Director.

 

Qualifications

Education

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.

Skills

  • 3+ years of hands-on software development experience
  • Proven ability to implement solutions in Python, C/C++ or any other 4G language.
  • Applied knowledge of Python, Bash, or other scripting language.
  • Applied knowledge of testing: Acceptance, Integration, Unit Tests, Non-Functional Testing (Performance, Load, Stress) is a plus.
  • Applied knowledge of testing network software is an advantage.
  • ISTQB Foundation, ISEB Basics levels or similar is an advantage.
  • Some understanding / skills in security testing (penetration, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Applied knowledge of working within a CI environment: GitLab, Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.
  • Knowledge of testing Restful Web-Services
  • Good oral and written communication and reporting skills.

Experience

  • Experience in a similar position or in Software Engineering with a passion for testing.
  • Experienced in software technology, programming languages and associated tools (e.g. C++, Python)
  • Any demonstrable background in test (using automated test frameworks such as Catch2, cpputest, cppunit, GoogleTest, Cucumber, Behave, or equivalent) is required.
